Lab Technician - Mobile Unit

Description:
Perform routine medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. Responsible for operation of the laboratory in a mobile clinic. Reliable transportation of a personal vehicle is required with frequent travel throughout central Florida (Daytona, Winder Garden, Ocoee, Tampa, DeBary, Kissimmee, Ponciana, etc.) in which mileage is reimbursed.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform technical laboratory functions including chemistry, hematology, urinalysis and immunology.
- Report test results following clinic protocols alerting providers and/or nurses about abnormal results.
- Ensure quality control in collecting specimens, ensure appropriate sampling and maintain accurate record keeping.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies. Set up, maintain, calibrate, clean, and test sterility of medical laboratory equipment.
- Comply with all laboratory policies and OSHA regulations related to safety, cleanliness and infection control.
- Serve as a back-up to the Lab Manager as needed.

- Knowledge of medical laboratory principles, standards, applications and tests.
- Knowledge of medical laboratory safety, cleanliness and infection control policies and regulations.
- Knowledge of medical laboratory equipment uses and maintenance.
- Accuracy – Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
- Communication – Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Computer Skills – Proficient ability to use a computer and electronic medical record.
- Confidentiality – Maintain patient, team member and employer confidentiality. Comply with all HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree or higher preferred
- Must be bilingual in English and Spanish
- Reliable personal transportation required
- Medical laboratory experience preferred
- Must possess at least one of the certifications mentioned below
Certification and Licensure:
We prefer candidates who hold one of the following nationally recognized certifications, which demonstrate expertise in specimen collection, lab testing, and medical safety protocols:
- MLT (Medical Laboratory Technician): Confirms proficiency in collecting and processing specimens, running routine lab tests, and ensuring accurate results to protect public health.
- ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology): Recognized certification that validates clinical lab knowledge, procedural competence, and quality standards.
- CPT (Certified Phlebotomy Technician – NHA): Emphasizes patient care, safety, and professionalism in blood collection.
- NCCT – Certified Phlebotomist Tech: Offers a well-rounded curriculum including anatomy, specimen collection, and infection control.
- AMT (American Medical Technologists): A broad certification provider offering credentials for phlebotomists (RPT) and lab technicians (MLT), demonstrating skill across various allied health roles.
Note: Candidates with equivalent education and experience who do not meet all requirements may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
