K2 is seeking an experienced and Licensed professional RN who oversees and coordinates all nursing operations including infusions within a research clinic and assists across the network of clinics. This position is located out of our clinic in Maitland (Orlando), FL. This position requires a dynamic and experienced individual who will effectively lead and manage a team of nurses, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, adherence to research protocols, and the overall smooth operation of nursing services. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive clinical knowledge, and a passion for advancing healthcare through research. Specializes in infusion therapy and the administration of investigational drugs and other necessary medications such as rescue medications, intravenously.   

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Team Management: Provide leadership and guidance to the nursing team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Recruit, train, and mentor nursing staff, ensuring a highly skilled and motivated team. Promote teamwork, effective communication, and professional development among nursing staff. 
  • Clinical Operations Management: Oversee nursing activities, ensuring compliance with clinical research protocols, ethical standards, and relevant regulations. Develop and maintain nursing policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure the highest standards of patient care. Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless coordination of patient services, including scheduling, patient flow, and resource allocation. Monitor and evaluate nursing performance, implementing quality improvement initiatives as needed. 
  • Patient Care and Safety: Ensure the provision of compassionate, safe, and evidence-based nursing care to patients participating in research studies. Develop and implement strategies to enhance patient satisfaction and optimize patient outcomes. Monitor patient safety and infection control practices, implementing necessary measures to mitigate risks and maintain a safe environment. 
  • Research Collaboration: Collaborate with research teams to understand study requirements, protocols, and objectives. Assist in the development and implementation of nursing components of research studies, including patient recruitment, data collection, and adverse event reporting. Stay updated on current research trends and best practices, integrating them into nursing practice within the clinic. 
  • Administrative Responsibilities: Prepare and manage the nursing services, ensuring optimal resource allocation. Maintain accurate documentation, records, and reports related to nursing services. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and research ethics guidelines. 
  • Additional Responsibilities: 
    • Demonstrates clinical proficiency and excellency regarding the insertion and care of peripheral IV's
    • Act as a primary point for IV insertion trouble shooting.
    • Ensures that proper technique and practice are used.    
    • Ensures care of patient through proper identification and reporting of changes in condition.  
    • Assist MD and Clinical Research Coordinator in procedures such as lumbar puncture and others as needed.   
    • Assist in training on clinical policies and procedures.   
    • Ensure high quality clinical care for patients by reviewing and researching concerns or complaints and recommending corrective action as appropriate.   
    • Ensure clinical policies and procedures comply with current state and federal regulations requirements and regulations. Identify and recommend policies and procedures as needed to ensure quality, compliance, accuracy and cost efficiency.    
    • Perform nursing duties as required during operating hours. 
    • Attend meetings and relay pertinent information to infusion team members timely 
    • Attend periodic training sessions and meetings pertinent to position. 
    • Maintain certification or licensure.  
    • Contributes to the effective implementation of company programs and services. 
    • Maintain excellent communication and effective working relationships with patients, providers, clinical and clerical team members. 
    • Perform preceptor duties to provide training and guidance for employees in Infusion Nurse I and II roles  
    • Travel to affiliated sites 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.  
  • Knowledge of medical office principles, standards, applications and tests.  
  • Knowledge of medical office safety, cleanliness and infection control policies and regulations. 
  • Knowledge of medical office equipment uses and maintenance.    
  • Accuracy – Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.    
  • Communication – Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.   
  • Computer Skills – Proficient ability to use a computer and electronic medical record. 
  • Confidentiality – Maintain patient, team member and employer confidentiality. Comply with all HIPAA regulations.    
  • Customer Service Oriented – Friendly, cheerful and helpful to patients and others. Ability to meet patients and others needs while following office policies and procedures.  
  • Decision Making – Ability to make critical decisions while following AES policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing (BSN or MN) from an accredited institution. 
  • Currently valid Florida State Board of Nursing registered professional nurse license. 
  • Proven experience in nursing leadership, preferably in a clinical research setting. 
  • Strong understanding of patient care principles, infection control practices, and quality improvement processes.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. 
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic research environment. 
  • Proven excellent IV skill insertion. 
  • BLS and ACLS active certification. 
  • Professional Certification Specialty CRNI  
  • At least 3 years in IV Therapy/ infusion therapy   
  • At least 2year in a Research Setting  
  • At least 5 years in a clinical setting
